Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESI)

The Employees’ State Insurance (ESI) Act, 1948 is a social security legislation in India that provides for certain benefits to employees in case of sickness, maternity, and employment injury. It also makes provisions for other related matters. The ESI Act aims to protect employees from financial distress arising from these contingencies and to promote their well-being.
Coverage:
The Act applies to factories and establishments (including shops, hotels, restaurants, etc.) with a specified number of employees (typically 10 or more). The wage limit for coverage is currently Rs. 21,000 per month (Rs. 25,000 for persons with disability).

Financial Contributions:
Employers and employees contribute to the ESI scheme through a contributory fund. The employer contributes 3.25% of the wages, and the employee contributes 0.75% of the wages.
The ESI Act provides a range of benefits, including:
Sickness Benefit: Cash allowance during sickness.
Maternity Benefit: Financial assistance during pregnancy and confinement.
Disablement Benefit: Payment for temporary or permanent disablement due to employment
injury.
Other Benefits: Dependents’ benefits in case of death due to employment injury, funeral
expenses, and medical benefits
• Obtaining ESI Code using online registration
• Obtaining online Sub-code Registration for branch offices PAN -India.
• Providing day to day consultancy on matters pertaining to ESI Act.
• Updation of particulars of change in ownership / establishment;
• Online generation of ESI IP numbers for individual employees and issuance of TIC.
• Computation and preparation of ESI Challan from the ESI portal.
• Guiding Employer in preparation / maintenance of various records viz., Inspection Book, Accident Book, etc.
• Assistance in filling and submission of Accident Forms
• Assistance to the employer on ESI benefits claiming process within the ESI dept
• Assistance in preparation & maintenance of Statutory Records as required under ESI Act / Rules;
• Providing day to day consultancy on matters pertaining to EPF, Pension scheme & EDLI scheme
• Regular visits to the ESI department to take care of employer’s requirements for ease and smooth flow of employer’s ESI related functions at the ESIC Insurance Section.
• Notices, Show Cause Notices and Correspondences with the ESI department.
• Assistance at the time of inspections and enquiries conducted by the ESI dept
• Timely guidance to the management regarding any rule or procedure changes within the ESI dept.
